Wolfgang Hoefer achieves the status of Life Fellow of the IEEE
On 1 January 2007, Wolfgang Hoefer achieved the status of Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) "in recognition of the many years of loyal membership and support of the activities of the IEEE". Life membership is bestowed when a member has attained the age of 65 years and has been a member of IEEE for such a period that the sum of his/her age and his/her years of membership equals or exceeds 100 years. Wolfgang Hoefer receives the Distinguished Educator Award of the IEEE MTT Society
Wolfgang Hoefer is the recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Educator Award from the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) Society. The citation reads: “For outstanding achievements as an educator, mentor and role model of microwave engineers and engineering students”. The Award has been presented at the Awards Banquet of the IEEE MTT-International Microwave Symposium (IMS), which was held in San Francisco, CA, USA, from June 11-16, 2006. Wolfgang Hoefer is a Distinguished Microwave Lecturer of the IEEE MTT Society for 2005-2007
In June 2005, Wolfgang Hoefer was selected by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society to represent the Society as a MTT-S Distinguished Microwave Lecturer for a three year period (2005-2007). During this term, Wolfgang Hoefer traveled to numerous MTT-S Chapters, Universities, and MTT-S sponsored meetings to present a lecture on the topic "Multi-Level Modeling for Complex Microwave/High-Speed Design", notably in Canada, USA, Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Hungary, China, Singapore, and Switzerland. Wolfgang Hoefer has been recognized by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC) "for important research achievements that have contributed to the sum total of human knowledge and the advancement of the economic and social well-being of Canadians over the 25 years of NSERC's existence". Wolfgang Hoefer is inducted into the Royal Society of Canada
Wolfgang Hoefer has been elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, considered Canada's most prestigious academic accolade. He was inducted as a RSC Fellow into the Academy of Science "for scientific achievements" during the awards gala dinner on 20 November 2003 at the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, Canada. The mission of the Royal Society of Canada is to recognize scholarly, research and artistic excellence, to advise governments and organizations, and to promote a culture of knowledge and innovation in Canada and with other national academies around the world. Wolfgang Hoefer receives the ACES Mainstay Award
Wolfgang Hoefer is the recipient of the 2002 Mainstay Award of the Applied Computational Electromagnetic Society (ACES) "for outstanding promotion and support of the annual ACES Conference". The Award was presented at the Awards Banquet of the 2002 ACES Conference, held during the 3rd week of March, 2002, at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
